ESPERIA, Calif.— The San Bernardino County Department of Public Works shared an update on the progress of the Summit Valley Highway Safety Project, announcing the completion of the latest improvements along the busy rural corridor connecting Esperia and Cajon Pass.
In a Facebook post on April 28, 2025, officials thanked the community for their patience, writing, “We are excited to share the results of the Summit Valley Road project with you! Thank you to our crews for their hard work and the community for your patience.”
The project covers a 5.3-mile stretch of Summit Valley Road that begins 0.86 miles north of Interstate 138 and extends east to Hesperia. Crews will work from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day from April 21 to 24.
Before and after photos provided by the county government show a significant improvement in the road’s condition. The newly paved road stands in stark contrast to the bright yellow and white road stripes.
Curved sections of road are now marked with reflective warning signs and clearer lines to help drivers navigate areas that were previously marked or unmarked.
The district said it will continue to post project updates on its official social media channels as future phases are planned.
