Kuching, July 15 – Mui Lee Enterprise Sdn Bhd and Persafe Engineering Sdn Bhd have teamed up to introduce Australia’s first eco-friendly sandblasting technology, aimed at improving industrial safety and promoting environmental sustainability across all industries.
This collaboration involves the implementation of environmentally friendly sandblasting technology, achieved through the acquisition of state-of-the-art sandblasting equipment from Abrasive Blasting Service and Supplies Pty Ltd (ABSS) in Victoria, Australia.
Today, during the Borneo International Energy Week (IEW 2025) held at the Borneo Convention Centre (BCCK) in Kuching, two Sarawak-based companies officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Designed for large-scale industrial applications, the ABSS system represents a leading technology for safe and environmentally friendly surface treatment. Designed for enclosed, highly efficient sandblasting operations, it minimizes material waste, ensuring worker and environmental safety through advanced dust extraction and collection.
In Sarawak, ABSS sandblasting equipment is distributed by Miri-based Mui Lee Enterprise, a supplier of industrial safety and fire protection systems.
Representatives from the Victorian Government’s Southeast Asia Trade and Investment Authority, as well as key figures from Sarawak’s industrial, energy and commercial sectors, attended the signing of the MoU, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in supporting this initiative.
In his speech, David Chew, Director of Mui Lee Enterprise, reiterated the partnership’s commitment to safety, sustainability and the development of Sarawak’s industrial sector through green technologies.
”We’ve always strived to offer global solutions to local industries. This eco-friendly sandblasting technology meets the growing demand for cleaner and more efficient processes, particularly in industries like oil and gas.”
He said, “The system we’ve implemented is more than just equipment; it delivers real benefits by reducing waste, improving air quality, and creating safer workplaces. It sets a new standard for green and sustainable sandblasting and painting services in Sarawak.”
Per Balan Ding, Managing Director and CEO of Persafe Engineering Sdn Bhd, emphasized that the initiative replaces traditional grinding methods with a cleaner alternative, reducing dust emissions, minimizing hazardous waste, and protecting workers and the surrounding community.
“This is a cutting-edge solution that improves safety standards, reduces environmental impact and promotes greener working practices.”
”I urge industry professionals, especially the residents of Bintulu, to support our sandblasting and painting services. By working together, we can not only change the way the industry operates, but also determine how it can contribute to a cleaner, safer, and more responsible future,” he said.
Persafe Engineering, headquartered in Bintulu, is renowned for its manufacturing technology and is preparing to establish the necessary sandblasting and painting facilities on a dedicated site.
Mui Lee and Persafe Engineering have confirmed their commitment to promoting green solutions to support the Sarawak Government’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) agenda and contribute to a greener and safer industrial environment.
This project supports Sarawak’s broader environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals by localizing green technologies in line with national and regional environmental policies. It also facilitates business and technology linkages between Sarawak and Australia, fostering regional cooperation and promoting environmentally friendly industrial practices. — Dayak Daily
