EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – More than $1 million will be spent this year to apply road markings to dozens of highways in western Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is marking highways and intersections in more than a dozen western Wisconsin counties this year in an effort to make roads safer for drivers.
Marking began May 17 in Trempealeau County, and the project will be completed in all counties in October.
The counties compiled a list of highways that had just had long line markings (i.e., edge and center lines of the road) applied:

According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, no closures are expected for pavement marking work. On heavily congested roads, painting will occur at night.
Wisconsin was awarded a $1.04 million contract signed by Gov. Tony Evers. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said Sir Lines-E-Lot of Edina, Minn., will do most of the work on the project.
