Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), the world’s largest single-industry aluminium smelter, has entered into a strategic partnership with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA®), a U.S.-based, self-funded, global non-profit organization that has been advancing fire safety and prevention around the world for nearly 130 years.
On May 12, 2025, a signing ceremony was held between Ali Al Bakali, CEO of Alba, and Engineer Dana Kamal, Director of International Business Development at NFPA MENA, marking the start of a three-year strategic collaboration aimed at enhancing knowledge sharing and best practices in the fields of health, safety and fire safety.
“Joining forces with NFPA means that Alba will not only become the world’s largest aluminum smelter, but also a global leader in industrial safety.
As the first aluminium smelter in the region and the first manufacturing company in Bahrain to embark on this journey, we are proud to lead and learn from the best, sharing our progress and contributing to a safer and more sustainable industrial world, starting with Bahrain.”
We are proud to partner with Alba, one of the world’s largest aluminum smelters. This agreement symbolizes our shared commitment to raising fire and life safety standards in Bahrain’s industrial sector. By complying with the NFPA™ Fire and Life Safety Ecosystem, we are committed to helping Alba maintain high safety standards as it expands its operations.
Under this partnership, Alba and NFPA will jointly develop and implement an action plan that includes support forums, training courses, certification programs, and conferences to promote best practices in fire safety. In addition, the parties will work to harmonize fire safety and occupational safety standards based on shared expertise, research, and data analysis.
